Jacoby Brissett has stepped up in a big way replacing Andrew Luck as the Indianapolis Colts' starting quarterback in 2019.

Heading into Sunday's slate of Games in Week 9, Brissett had the NFL's 10th-highest quarterback rating (99.3) and was averaging the 12th-most adjusted net yards per pass attempt (6.89) as he led the Colts to a 5-2 start to the year.

Brissett suffered a first-quarter knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, though, and Brian Hoyer has now taken the reigns as the Colts' starting QB.

Jacoby Brissett Backup

Hoyer attempted just two passes in 2018, but he did make six starts for the San Francisco 49ers in the 2017 season. He threw a touchdown to Jack Doyle on his first snap in relief of Brissett, but he can be expected to be a significant downgrade for the Indy offense.

Hoyer has a career passer rating of just 83.2, averaging 6.25 adjusted net yards per pass attempt. While leading, 10-3, in this game, Hoyer threw a pick-six to Minkah Fitzpatrick, which tied the game.

The Colts are already thin on offense, missing T.Y. Hilton for what is expected to be up to three weeks, and a downgrade at QB could prove to be a downgrade for the fantasy value of everyone in the offense. They can be expected to produce less efficiently, struggle more to sustain drives and generate fewer TD opportunities.

Brissett did jog off the field under his own power, so the hopes for a Colts playoff run are far from dead. He's also been seen on the sidelines with his helmet, but hasn't re-entered the game as of yet.

Any number of starts made by Hoyer will serve to downgrade the fantasy outlook for the likes of Marlon Mack, Hilton (when he returns) and Zach Pascal.
