Isaiah Roby

Isaiah Roby never quite took the kind of step forward that many expected him to at Nebraska, but the 21-year-old forward is still a high-upside prospect that should hear his name called at some point during the 2019 NBA Draft on Thursday night.

The former Cornhusker finished the 2018-19 season with solid offensive numbers for a big man, averaging 11.8 points per game (PPG) and 1.9 assists per game (APG). However, Roby was most dominant on the defensive side of the ball, averaging 6.9 rebounds per game (RPG), 1.3 steals per game (SPG) and 1.9 blocks per game (BPG) in his junior season.

Roby's defensive ability projects well at the next level, but he'll have a lot of work to do offensively if he wants to see more minutes as a pro. The Nebraska product will also have to improve from the foul line, shooting 67.7 percent from the charity stripe as a junior.

Isaiah Roby NBA Draft Predictions

Philadelphia 76ers (No. 42), Los Angeles Clippers (No. 48)

The Philadelphia 76ers could lose Tobias Harris to free agency this offseason, which means Philly could be looking to the draft for a younger asset. Roby is nowhere near the kind of offensive talent that Harris provides, but his ball-handling and defensive ability could allow him to carve out a smaller rotational role while his offensive game develops early in his career.

The Los Angeles Clippers could lose one of their leading frontcourt rebounders from last year in JaMychal Green to free agency. If that happens, the Clippers could look late in the draft for a replacement. While there may be an offensive drop-off, the Nebraska product could be a great replacement option for Green from a defensive standpoint.
