The Philadelphia 76ers are back in action on Wednesday night as they face the Dallas Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. One player's status to keep an eye on ahead of tip-off is Joel Embiid, who was sidelined on Monday with calf soreness.

Joel Embiid Injury Update (3/29/2023)

Embiid is listed as questionable to suit up against the Mavericks and signs point to his status being determined in pregame warmups. He sat out against Denver on Monday night, which was Philly's third road game in a four-day stretch. Rest for a guy averaging 34.7 minutes a night was bound to come.

There isn't much concern about Embiid's calf soreness as reports are accounting the injury to wear and tear more than anything else. Keep in mind Philadelphia has already clinched a spot in the NBA Playoffs, so keeping a superstar like Embiid healthy has to be the top priority for the coaching staff.

Of course, the 76ers are a much different team when Embiid is on the floor versus when he is not. The NBA's leading scorer (33.3 points per game) is shooting a career-high 54.5% from the floor this year. James Harden is also listed as questionable (Achilles), so the 76ers may be short-handed in this one.

Joel Embiid Fantasy Outlook and Prop Bets Today

Joel Embiid is listed with over/unders of 34.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists on FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds, which is a great sign for his availability. Embiid has a knack for balling out in primetime games and should be able to dominate a Dallas defense that gives up 52.3 points in the paint per away game (No. 22 in NBA). Backing him to score over 34.5 points (-102) is a good option.

Embiid is also listed among the top options on the FanDuel DFS slate tonight, checking in with the second-most expensive price tag overall ($11,800). That should come as no surprise considering the Philly big man is averaging 56.7 FanDuel fantasy points per game and is going up against the likes of Dwight Powell and Christian Wood at the rim. Just make sure to have a backup plan ready to go here.
