The Las Vegas Raiders made wide receiver Hunter Renfrow a richer man on Friday when they signed him to a two-year, $32 million extension. It isn't quite the money that some of the other top wideouts made this offseason, but it could set the asking price for another young WR: the Pittsburgh Steelers' Diontae Johnson.

Johnson is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2022 NFL season and will be looking for a pay bump after becoming the Steelers' No. 1 wide receiver. A comparison between his and Renfrow's 2021 stats shows that he at least deserves a similar extension heading his way.

Diontae Johnson Rumors

Renfrow was praised for his breakout 2021 campaign, ending his third NFL season with 1,038 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 103 catches. Meanwhile, Johnson's stats were better than that, proven by his 107 receptions - 1,161 yards - 8 TDs stat line.

There's no question that the Steelers must pay Johnson the money he deserves. He had a whopping 48 receptions and 301 yards more than the next closest wideout, further proving his importance to Pittsburgh's passing game.

The Steelers are fortunate that the contract situation hasn't had a negative impact on their relationship with Johnson. The 25-year-old has said that he's "not worried" and that his only focus is to "get the job done" on the field.

"At the end of the day, I can only move forward and just control what I can control. I want to be here. I'm patient. I'm just going to keep working."

Diontae Johnson

It certainly doesn't seem like the Steelers are at risk of losing Johnson or creating an irreparable divide. He's clearly all-in on the franchise and hopes to lead Pittsburgh's passing attack in 2022 and beyond.

Steelers Super Bowl Odds

As good as Johnson is, he and the Steelers have a long road ahead of them if a Super Bowl is the goal next season. FanDuel Sportsbook has them available at +8000 (T-No. 23) to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy next February.
