Gulfstream Horse Racing Picks for Saturday 2/25/23

The Gulfstream Championship Meet continues on Saturday with 12 races. Post time to start the day is 12:10 p.m. ET.
As always, check the program for scratches and changes, monitor the weather and keep an eye on the track conditions.
(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races after adjusting for track, distances, and conditions).

Race 3 is an Allowance race for older state breds going 7 furlongs. Universal Payday (7/2) and Slim Slow Slider (7/5) are the top picks by numberFire's data. Slim Slow Slider has been a short-priced loser his last two starts and faces an easier field today. Black Seal (20/1) is the biggest longshot, but better than some of these runners.
2. Candy Man Rocket and Cajun's Magic, Race 9
FanDuel Racing Odds: 9/5 and 15/1

Race 9 is the $125,000 Gulfstream Park Sprint for older horses at 6 furlongs. Horse Racing Nation (Super Screener) projections have Candy Man Rocket (9/5) as a top pick and strong win contender, along with longshot Cajun's Magic (15/1). So does Top Race Reports in his East Coast Handicapping Report.
Candy Man Rocket has won 4-of-8 starts and won here last month with a career-best 103 speed figure running on the front end. If he doesn't hold up through the expected torrid and pressured pace, then deep closer Cajun's Magic can pick up the pieces.
Uncle Ernie (3/1) is a top win contender according to numberFire. Lightening Larry (9/2) can pressure the hot pace and hit the board, according to numberFire's projections. He won a Grade 3 race last year and won here last month for his 5th win and 9th in-the-money finish in 13 starts.
3. Makin My Move and Gogo Shoes, Race 10
FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/1 and 12/1

Race 10 is an Allowance race for older fillies and mares at 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf. The numberFire data projects Makin My Move (5/1) to win. She's won 4-of-9 starts including a stakes race last fall. She also finished a close fourth here last month off a layoff at shorter odds. Gogo Shoes (12/1) is a top longshot by numberFire's data.
Chili Flag (7/2) is a consideration with top jockey and trainer combo Jose Ortiz and Chad Brown. Chili Flag gets first time Lasix and makes her US debut having failed to win in his last five starts.
