The Gulfstream Championship Meet continues this weekend. Starting at 12:10 p.m. ET on Friday we have 9 races, including two stakes.

As always, check the program for scratches and changes, monitor the weather and keep an eye on the track conditions.

(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races after adjusting for track, distances, and conditions).

Race 4 is a Maiden Special Weight for older horses at 1 mile on the turf. The heavy favorite and top pick according to numberFire's data is Howe Street (7/5) followed by Happy Runner (4/1).

Howe Street finished runner-up in his debut last April but hasn't run since. Tiz Eternal (15/1) is now gelded and also has just one career race last year. He posted a pair of bullet works in the morning in preparation for his return as a more capable longshot.

2. Olga and Nucci, Race 5

FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/1 and 8/1

Race 5 is a high-end Starter Optional Claiming race for 3-year-old fillies at 7 furlongs. The numberFire order of finish is projected as Olga (3/1), Miss Ucrania (7/2) and Nucci (8/1).

Olga has hit the board in three of her last four starts, including a win.
Leading jockey Jose Ortiz rides her for the first time.

3. Milliken and Strong Quality, Race 7

FanDuel Racing Odds: 6/1 and 3/1

Race 7 is a featured Allowance race for older horses at 1 mile. Strong Quality (3/1) with top jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. riding is the top pick of numberFire. He's been thwarted in several photo finishes since winning a maiden race and has solid speed figures, finishing second four times in five starts.

Milliken (6/1) is a talented runner in the field of 10 who won with a high speed figure in 2021 but has been unable to realize his potential, hitting the board in his next four starts without a win despite reaching triple-digit speed figures. Off since November, he's a threat at this price.
