The San Francisco Giants have gotten off to another solid start at 7-4 in 2022 in the tough NL West division. Although they did receive some bad news on Wednesday when starting pitcher Alex Cobb was placed on the 10-day Injured List with a groin injury.
Alex Cobb Injury Update
Cobb suffered the injury in the fifth inning of his start against the Mets on Tuesday. While Cobb claimed it didn't feel too serious, history tells us groin injuries can be lingering ones for pitchers.
While we don't know if this particular injury will keep Cobb out longer than the 10 days for now, it shouldn't be ruled out. Cobb was solid for the Los Angeles Angels in 2021, holding an 8-3 record with a 3.76 ERA in 18 starts.
Brought in to help bolster the Giants rotation with the loss of Kevin Gausman, Cobb missing significant time would be problamatic for a team looking to prove last season wasn't a flash in the pan.
The Giants currently hold +1500 odds to win the 2022 World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, which is tied for 8th-best in the majors.
