Giants News: San Francisco Gets Mixed News on Mike Yastrzemski Injury Update

Despite Monday night's 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Francisco Giants remain one of the best teams in the MLB in 2021. San Francisco sits in first place in the NL West with a 50-28 overall record and retain a 2.5-game lead over their fiercest rivals.
Unfortunately for the Giants, Monday night's loss came with a bit of bad news on both ends. Not only did San Francisco see their division lead slip by one game, but it came with a concerning injury to right fielder Mike Yastrzemski.
Yastrzemski left the game early after fouling a ball pretty hard against his right shin. He did finish out this at-bat in the top of the seventh inning, but was pulled defensively during the next half inning.

Naturally, Yastrzemski underwent x-rays following the game, which revealed a silver lining to his potential injury. The x-rays came back negative and Giants manager Gabe Kapler revealed the official diagnosis as "day-to-day" with a right leg contusion.

Yastrzemski's been one of the most important piece to the Giants lineup this season with his slashing line of .327/.464/.790 and 10 home runs. The 30-year-old lefty slugger has been a big part of San Francisco's success at the plate in 2021 with the team ranking top-10 in runs scored (384).
Despite their spot atop the NL West standings, the Giants own just +1700 odds to win the World Series on FanDuel Sportsbook. Both the Dodgers (+390) and San Diego Padres (+850), who trail the Giants in the standings, own more favorable betting odds.
