Giants Lose Another Member of Recent World Series Teams

For a stretch of five years beginning in 2010, there was no better team at capitalizing on magical postseason runs than the San Francisco Giants. San Francisco rattled off three World Series championships in that short span. But, as the years have gone bye, key member after key member of that dynasty has departed the Bay Area.
Buster Posey, who retired in 2021, was arguably the most prominent name on those championship teams. However, it was revealed late Monday night that another member of that special run is saying goodbye.
Brandon Belt will be signing a one year deal with Toronto, I’m told. Deal will be announced tomorrow.

First baseman Brandon Belt is reportedly signing a one-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. This leaves shortstop Brandon Crawford as the lone remaining player from a special time in franchise history.
Belt spent 12 seasons in San Francisco and played a key role in two of those three World Series. His new Blue Jays contract is worth one-year and $9.3 million. While his recent years have been plagued by injuries, the sure-handed first baseman played in more than 1,300 career games for the Giants and touts a strong .261/.356/.458 career slash line. He was named an All-Star in 2016.
Belt hit unrestricted free agency at the end of the 2022 campaign.
