The Houston Texans, headed for a likely rebuild, cut star defensive end J.J. Watt earlier this offseason in order to let him pursue a new home. After multiple suitors emerged, Watt decided to sign with the Arizona Cardinals, reuniting him with former teammate DeAndre Hopkins.
However, following news of Watt's signing, one former staff member anonymously ripped the ex-Texan.
This is obviously a cowardly move to bash a player right after he finds a new team. But what's even more puzzling is that claims about Watt being selfish seems totally off base considering Watt's reputation and track record for selfless acts off the field.
It sounds like a personal judgement rather than one rooted in any kind of reality. This is the same player who raised tens of millions of dollars for relief following Hurricane Harvey and does work in the community through his charity.
Texans fans were the first people to wish Watt well on his next venture, praising him for being the ultimate professional and competitor.
While this anonymous source's criticisms generated noise, it shouldn't be taken seriously. It just shows how deep the corruption of Houston's franchise really is.
