The Atlanta Braves' 2022 campaign came to an end when they were eliminated by the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS. Although a premature end isn't what Braves fans wanted this year, the fanbase did have a reason for celebration on Thursday.

MLB insider Mark Feinsand reports that five Braves are in the running for 2022 Silver Slugger honors. The quintet of players is as follows: Matt Olson (1B), Austin Riley (3B), Dansby Swanson (SS), Michael Harris II (OF) and Travis d'Arnaud (C).

The Silver Slugger Award is given to the best offensive player at each position, voted by the MLB's managers and coaches. Aspects that are taken into consideration during the voting process include batting average, slugging percentage and the voters' overall thoughts on each player.

Olson had big boots to fill as Freddie Freeman's replacement at first base, but he did well. The 28-year-old slugger hit 24 home runs and 103 RBIs while slashing .240/.325/.477, playing a big role in the Braves' success.

Harris — who's only 21 years old — also had a terrific rookie year. He paced the Braves with a .297 batting average and finished third with a .853 on-base + slugging percentage (OPS). Speaking of OPS, Riley led his team in that regard (.878), as well as with 38 HRs ( a new career-high).

That's not even to mention Swanson, who tallied 25 HRs and 96 RBIs with one of the best slash lines of his career (.277/.329/.447) en route to his first All-Star appearance. Or the fact that d'Arnaud vastly improved his own slash line (.268/.319/.472) compared to last year (.220/.284/.388).

Considering how the Braves were second in the Majors with a .761 team OPS this season, it isn't a shock to see them having five Silver Slugger candidates. Riley and d'Arnaud have already received the honor once, respectively, leaving time to tell if the remaining three will join the duo this year.
