First Details of Derek Carr's Meeting With Saints Emerge

Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders have decided to end their partnership this offseason. Carr, the starting quarterback for the Raiders since he entered the league in 2014, is now on the search for a new home.
He is still under contract with Las Vegas, but the team has given Carr permission to seek out a potential trade partner. On Wednesday, Carr began the process of doing exactly that. Carr met with the brass of the New Orleans Saints, a team clearly in need of a QB.

The Saints started Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton last year, but neither have proven to be the long-term answer. However, New Orleans did go 7-10, so an upgrade like Carr could take this team to new heights.
The Saints smell blood in the water with Tom Brady's retirement, and trading for Carr would allow them to take advantage of that. The NFC South division is suddenly wide open with the Carolina Panthers clumsily struggling and the Atlanta Falcons lacking talent.
Carr and the Saints presumably would want this deal done as soon as possible so they can get to work, but New Orleans might not be the only team interested in making a deal for the veteran. It remains to be seen if they work out a deal before the QB's contract guarantees.
