Golf Picks for This Week
The PGA Tour is heading into its seventh tournament since returning from the break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This week, we turn our attention to the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities.
With a loaded field of players heading into this weekend's tournament, let's take a look at three players to watch out for when putting together your fantasy team.
PGA Fantasy Picks
Dustin Johnson performed pretty poorly in his last outing, but he won his start before that. His game lines up well for TPC Twin Cities as well. Johnson might not be as accurate off the tee as others, but he ranks well in Strokes Gained(SG): Off-The-Tee (No. 11 on tour). He's also No. 37 in SG: Approach The Green and No. 26 in SG: Tee-To-Green. He leads the PGA Tour in holes per eagles, which should be another useful stat on this longer course, filled with trouble. Speaking of trouble, Johnson is 11th on tour in sand save percentage, which could come into major play on a course littered with bunkers.
Few people on tour have better ratings in crucial areas to this course than Paul Casey does. He ranks No. 11 in SG: Off-The-Tee, No. 9 in SG: Approach The Green and No. 15 in SG: Tee-To-Green. He is No. 12 in Greens in Regulation (GIR) percentage and has really excelled when attempting to go for the green earlier than he needs to, ranking No. 12 on tour there. Additionally, Casey leads the tour in approach accuracy from 75-100 yards. If you're looking for an accurate player who is an exceptional ball-striker, look no further than Casey.
Harris English, like Casey, hits a lot of key stats here. He's No. 6 in SG: Off-The-Tee, No. 29 in Approach The Green, No. 13 in SG: Tee-To-Green and No. 10 in SG: Total. He's also No. 11 in both GIR and scoring average. Coming off a T-17 and T-13 in his last two starts, English's game and current form bodes well for him in a weak field.
