Fantasy Golf Picks for John Deere Classic

The British Open starts next Thursday, but that doesn't mean the PGA Tour is taking a week off to prepare. The John Deere Classic will tee off this Thursday. With a field that is almost completely void of big-name talent, this tournament could be anyone's for the taking.

With that in mind, let's take a look at some golfers to watch out for when putting together your fantasy lineup this week.

Viktor Hovland
The new kid on the block, Hovland has made an appearance in this article a couple of times recently, especially after his strong showing at the U.S. Open. He followed up that performance, where he set the amateur scoring record, with back-to-back T-13s at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and the 3M Open. Hovland has been remarkably consistent, and he could find even more success against a much weaker field.

Zach Johnson
Johnson has some motivation working in his favor. He is in danger of missing the FedExCup Playoffs for the second straight year. He has won this event before and even sits on the board of directors for the tournament. He has placed in the top five in seven of his past 10 starts at TPC Deere Run. He has also carded par or better in 45 of his last 46 rounds at this course. He's as safe a bet as any.

Michael Kim
He's a long shot compared to the two other guys on this list, but the 2018 John Deer Classic winner shouldn't be counted out. He won the tournament last year with an impressive four rounds of golf, winning by eight strokes after carding 63-64-64-66. Kim clearly knows his way around this course, and if you're looking to catch lightning in a bottle this week, Kim could be your guy.
