With the new PGA Tour season in full swing, PGA Tour pros are heading down to the Bahamas for the Hero World Challenge at Albany.
Let's take a look at some golfers to consider when putting together your fantasy team this week.
Hero World Challenge Fantasy
Rory McIlroy hasn't played at Albany during his professional career, but he has gotten off to a great start this season. Rory picked up a win in his lone start this season at the CJ CUP @ SUMMIT, finishing at an impressive 25-under par. With Albany playing over 7,300 yards this week, Rory's monster driver will be very important. In fact, Rory ranks No. 1 on tour in Strokes Gained (SG): Off-The-Tee and No. 4 in average driving distance. Yes, it will be over a month since his last start, but he had some time off before the CJ CUP and that brought him a win.
Like McIlroy, Spieth's only appearance this season on tour was at the CJ CUP, where he finished T-18. While that's clearly not as impressive as McIlroy's win, Spieth has a great history at Albany. In four starts on the course, Spieth has three top-six finishes. He finished T-16 in 2020, but from 2016-2018 finished 4th, 6th and 3rd, respectively. If he can recapture that magic, Spieth could very well walk away with a win this weekend.
Berger actually has fewer starts than McIlroy this season, as he's yet to play in a PGA Tour event so far. He does have some history at Albany though, finishing T-14 there in 2017 in this event. Berger had an impressive second-half of last season. He finished with five top-20 finishes, and three top-10 finishes in his last eight starts. What he lacks in power off the tee, he makes up for elsewhere, ranking No. 7 on tour in Greens in Regulation (GIR) last season, No. 5 in SG: Approach The Green and No. 14 in SG: Tee-To-Green.
