The Atlanta Falcons are one NFL team off to a surprising start through the first four weeks of the season. Sitting at 2-2, with a pair of solid wins over the Seattle Seahawks and Cleveland Browns, Atlanta heads into a brutal part of their schedule.
The next three weeks against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals will especially be a good test for the defense, which current ranks just 22nd in Football Outsiders' DVOA metric.
Fortunately, the Falcons' secondary unit is due for an incoming boost via the latest injury update on Isaiah Oliver.
Isaiah Oliver Injury Update
According to Falcons insider Michael Rothstein, Oliver begins his 21-day period to return from the injured reserve and will suit up for Atlanta's practice on Wednesday.
The nickel cornerback joined Atlanta in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He played out the last of his rookie contract before re-signing with the team this past offseason.
Across four years, Oliver owns 33 starts in 50 career games. He's racked up 1 interception, 27 passes defender and 166 combined tackled in that span.
Both Dee Alford and Mike Ford filled in at nickel cornerback during Oliver's absent, but his return signifies a welcomed boost to the depth of this unit.
For now, the Falcons hold +1100 odds (3rd) to win the NFC South on FanDuel Sportsbook.
