Eagles Sign Versatile Defender in Free Agency

With just one playoff win since their Super Bowl LII victory, the Philadelphia Eagles entered the NFL offseason looking to make some serious improvements. Although they haven't been too busy so far, they've since added a versatile defender in free agency.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Saturday afternoon that the Eagles are signing former Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Kyzir White to a one-year contract "worth up to $5 million."

Eagles Free Agency
White had an absolute breakout campaign in 2021, so the fact that the Eagles are getting him at this price is fairly impressive.
The 26-year-old defender finished with a personal-best 144 tackles (previously had 134 total in first three seasons), two interceptions, two forced fumbles and three defended passes. On top of that, he held opposing quarterbacks to an 88.1 passer rating and two touchdowns on 59 targets.
While White was statistically impressive in 2021, his versatility also makes him incredibly valuable to the Eagles. He can play on either side of the field as a linebacker and even played safety during his days as a West Virginia Mountaineer.
The Eagles hold 10 picks ahead of this year's NFL Draft, including three in the first round, which gives them multiple opportunities to improve a defense that surrendered 23.1 PPG (T-No. 18). Nevertheless, adding a player of White's caliber certainly helps in the meantime.
The Eagles need all the help they can get if they hope to chase after another championship in 2022. FanDuel Sportsbook is currently giving them +4000 odds (T-No. 20) to win Super Bowl LVII.
