Many people tabbed the 2021 NFL season as a rebuilding year for the Philadelphia Eagles, yet they still found a way to exceed expectations. The Eagles have made the playoffs in four of the last five seasons and are being disrespected by their spot in ESPN's early 2022 NFL power rankings.

Eagles Power Rankings

The Eagles check in all the way down at No. 19 and are expected to be on the outside of the playoff picture. There is simply no reason Philadelphia should be ranked behind teams that didn't even post a .500 record in 2021. The upside greatly outweighs the downside when looking ahead.

Yes, no one truly knows whether or not quarterback Jalen Hurts is capable of carrying a franchise to a Super Bowl title. However, he showed a lot of promise in his first full season as the starter. Overall, the 23-year-old threw for 3,144 yards, rushed for 784 yards and accounted for 26 total touchdowns.

The game of football is about much more than the QB position, though. The Eagles sent five players to the Pro Bowl this past season, including cornerback Darius Slay and center Jason Kelce. They also head into the offseason with 10 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft (3 first-round selections).

Philadelphia has a golden opportunity to upgrade the roster in free agency as well given the team is projected to have over $22 million in cap space available. Don't be surprised if this roster looks a lot different by Week 1 as head coach Nick Sirianni's team attempts to win a shaky NFC East division.

The Eagles have odds set at +3300 to win Super Bowl 57 (T-17th), according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
