The Miami Dolphins entered Week 17 of the regular season with a chance to make the playoffs, but they fell short of the postseason and must now evaluate their roster heading into a crucial offseason period. Miami looks on the verge of growing into a contender given their rising defense, but there's questions over Tua Tagovailoa's viability as the team's starter.

With that in mind, here are three likely starting quarterbacks for the Dolphins in 2021.

3. Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson's future with the Houston Texans looks incredibly murky, and a trade seems like a highly possible outcome. Miami has the No. 3 pick (which is Houston's first-rounder), No. 18 pick (their own first-rounder), and two second-round picks (Nos. 36 and 50) in this year's draft that it can put on the table for any proposal. The Texans will likely need a king's ransom, but it's worth it to pay for Miami, especially considering a star QB like Watson could vault them into instant contender status.

2. Kyle Trask

If Miami doesn't send off its draft stash, using the No. 36 pick to select Kyle Trask makes a lot of sense. The Florida Gators QB threw for 4,283 yards and 43 TDs as a senior, earning a fourth-place finish in Heisman voting. He's the kind of top quarterback talent that could put pressure on Tagovailoa to perform and invite some healthy competition. Even if one of those young QBs emerges as serious starter material, it'd be a pick well spent.

1. Tua Tagovailoa

There's also a real chance that the Dolphins run it back with Tua and see what they have with the former fifth overall pick. Using their draft selections this year to surround the young QB with weapons would be a smart choice, and the Dolphins' No. 3 pick gives them a chance to select future star wideouts like DeVonta Smith or Ja'Marr Chase. The bounty of picks they have also means they'll get plenty of chances to nab top talent to fill out the entire roster and build a contender around Tagovailoa. Half of a season's worth of starts isn't enough to move on from the young gun just yet.
