Dolphins Can Offer Texans Best Deshaun Watson Trade Package After 49ers Deal

The Miami Dolphins made a flurry of moves on Friday, participating in two separate trades to stockpile NFL Draft picks. After deals with the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles, Miami acquired two additional picks in 2021 (Nos. 6 and 156), a 2022 third-rounder and a 2023 first-rounder.
With that amount of draft capital not just this year but beyond, the Dolphins can put together a top-tier package if they want to pursue Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson.

While the team's trade down from No. 3 overall seemed to indicate they're committed to Tua Tagovailoa, they secured extra draft picks in the process that could be used in any Watson package. With this roster on the verge of contending right now, they could exchange those future selections for a player who can immediately step in and elevate the franchise.
Of course, Watson currently has ongoing legal matters that need to be handled before any trade will happen. But if those are resolved and his trade buzz picks up again, Miami leads the pack in draft capital it can offer Houston, and they could dangle Tagovailoa as a promising young quarterback to headline the Texans' rebuild.
Either way, the Dolphins have positioned themselves for success, accumulating future picks while maintaining a top-10 selection in this year's draft to go along with their own first-rounder at No. 18. The future is bright in Miami, and the possibilities are seemingly endless heading into next month's draft.
