This Monday morning's reality certainly isn't the one that the Clemson Tigers nor their fanbase was hoping to wake up to following Saturday's trip to South Bend.

The Tigers went on the road to take on the No. 4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish without starting QB Trevor Lawrence, and Clemson ultimately suffered a 47-40 defeat in 2OT.

However, while the immediate result of this loss may sting now, the future looks very bright thanks to the performance that we saw out of freshman backup D.J. Uiagalelei.

That's right, the 19-year-old freshman quarterback Uiagalelei's 439 passing yards in Saturday's game were the most ever thrown against Notre Dame in the Fighting Irish's ling history. That's quite the feat for a QB making the first road start of his career.

While, of course, there should be little doubt over who the starter will be in Clemson once Lawrence is cleared from the COVID-19 list, Clemson fans have to be excited about their future behind Uiagalelei once Lawrence likely declares for the NFL Draft next spring.
