Jaguars Get Concerning News With DJ Chark Undergoing Finger Surgery

When the Jacksonville Jaguars brought in Urban Meyer to be their new head coach and selected quarterback Trevor Lawrence first overall at the 2021 NFL Draft, it was evidently the start of a new era for the franchise.
Fourth-year wideout DJ Chark Jr. is one of the returning players who'll transition into Jacksonville's newest chapter, however, there's some concern regarding whether or not he'll be right for the start of the new season.
Meyer told reporters on Sunday that Chark recently underwent surgery for a hairline fracture on one of his fingers. While there's not an official timetable for his return, the Jaguars coach expects his receiver to be good to go for Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season.
Jaguars’ WR D.J. Chark underwent surgery for a hairline fracture of his finger, but Jacksonville HC Urban Meyer said he still expects Chark to play in Week 1 vs Houston.

DJ Chark Injury Update
While the news is concerning, the silver lining is that Meyer seems confident that Chark will be ready to start the campaign. The 24-year-old has been Jacksonville's top pass-catcher over the past two years, so he's integral for any immediate success.
Whenever Chark does make his 2021 debut, he'll be looking to bounce back from last year's somewhat underwhelming campaign. After recording 73 receptions, 1,008 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns over 15 games in 2020, Chark caught 53 balls in 13 games for 706 yards and 5 TDs in 2021.
The good news is that Chark is in a great situation for a bounce-back year. He's a part of a pass-catching core that includes Marvin Jones Jr., Laviska Shenault Jr. and 2021 first-round pick running back Travis Etienne Jr. Lawrence will be throwing the ball to all four men and if he can live up to his NFL potential, it wouldn't be surprising to see each of them going to have to impressive campaigns.
Even with their offseason improvements, the Jaguars still have their doubters ahead of the new season. FanDuel Sportsbook has given them +12000 odds to win Super Bowl 56, which ranks third-worst leaguewide.
