The MLB offseason is rolling along with less than two months until Opening Day for the 2023 regular season. Many franchises around the league are beginning to get a full picture of their Spring Training rosters and the excitement is building.

But, one MLB player won't be participating once Opening Day rolls around.

Former Chicago Cubs outfielder Dexter Fowler shared a heartfelt retirement announcement on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

Fowler spent the two best years of his 14-year MLB career with Chicago in 2015 and 2016. This was the lone All-Star appearance on his resume and of course, Fowler played an important role in Chicago's 2016 World Series Champion.

Fowler smacked two home runs during that 7-game series against the then-Cleveland Indians. Kris Bryant was the only other player on either roster to hit multuple home runs during that series.

But, Fowler had the honor of becoming the only player to hit a leadoff home run in a Game 7 of the World Series. Check out the moment below.

Although Fowler only spent two of his seasons in Chicago, he retirement message included a picture of him wearing Cubs' gear. Between the All-Star appearance, the World Series win, and that historic home run, it's quite clear Fowler wants to be remembered as a Cub.
