Derek Carr Reuniting With Former Wideout on Saints

The New Orleans Saints made one of the biggest splashes of the offseason when they signed quarterback Derek Carr to a four-year deal. The front office has wasted no time surrounding their new signal-caller with weapons and has even reunited him with a former target in the passing attack.

The Saints have signed wide receiver Bryan Edwards to fill out their offensive depth chart behind Chris Olave, Michael Thomas and Rashid Shaheed. Edwards and Carr notably played together for two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders (2020-21), linking up 45 times for 764 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Edwards was then traded to the Atlanta Falcons during the 2022 offseason, but was bothered by a shoulder injury in training camp and appeared in only seven games during the ensuing campaign. The 24-year-old was released in November after tallying just 15 yards on 3 receptions (5 targets).

The former third-round draft pick has a chance to reinvent his career by playing in an offensive scheme that is similar to the one he played in with Carr before. After all, Edwards has the size to compete (6-foot-3 and 212 pounds) and averages a respectable 16.2 yards per catch in his career.

For now, the Saints have odds set at +3500 to win Super Bowl 58, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
