David Johnson Injury Update Could Point to Big Fantasy Performance From Chase Edmonds in Week 7

After another week of injury news swirling around Arizona' Cardinals' star running back, all signs appear to point to David Johnson suiting up for the Cardinals in Week 7 against the New York Giants.
Given that he is still considered a game-time decision, however, and considering that this is a different injury than he played through last week, it is worth exploring what the impact would be if he doesn't play from a fantasy perspective.

Chase Edmonds Fantasy Value
The good news for Arizona fans is that if Johnson isn't able to go, they have another dynamic option with potential waiting in the wings. The same goes for any savvy fantasy owners who stashed Chase Edmonds on their bench for this week. That being said, if Edmonds becomes the sole back in the Cardinals' backfield for this Sunday, he immediately offers solid fantasy upside as a streaming option.
In his past two games, both played with Johnson on the field as well, Edmonds has 12 carries for 92 yards and one touchdown on the ground to go with five catches for 51 yards and one touchdown through the air.
Again, that production came with Johnson on the field. In those games Johnson had 20 and 18 touches, respectively. If he were to miss this week's game, Edmonds would be in line to see around double the opportunities and continue his massive production.

Granted, Edmonds' last two performances came in great matchups against the Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons, respectively, but Arizona finds itself facing another opponent allowing plenty of fantasy production in the New York Giants. This season, the Giants' scoring defense ranks 27th in the league, allowing 26.7 points per game (PPG).
In a matchup with a projected scoring total of 50.5 points, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, and against a defense who has not been able to stop the run, Chase Edmonds has a chance to be the top RB play if David Johnson is out.
