Daniel Scott Scouting Report
Daniel Scott was productive in his final year at California. He finished inside of the Pac-12's top 10 when it came to solo tackles (57, No. 5), interception return yards (59, No. 8) and fumbles forced (2, No. 6). He also racked up three total INTs while adding a career-high four broken-up passes.
Scott tends to be in the right place at the right time due to his solid reaction, awareness and ability to track the ball while it's in the air. He's also physically gifted, possessing long arms that help him thrive as a safety.
Having said that, he could work on his tackling. Scott has a tendency to miss ball carriers if he's attempting too big of a takedown. He must also work on being calmer due to his tendency to make the occasional bone-headed play if he keeps getting beat.
Daniel Scott NFL Draft Prediction
Daniel Scott will likely be stuck on the board for quite some time. While one mock draft sees him as a third-round pick, the other four point to him being a Day 3 selection.
The Las Vegas Raiders made it clear that they want to improve their secondary last week, making Scott a viable option. After all, the Raiders surrendered the fourth-most passing yards last season and must address that concern if they want to keep pace in the AFC West.
Will Scott be a difference-make by Week 1? No, but he doesn't need to be. He just needs to come in and continue doing what made him a success at Cal. With eight Day 3 picks to use, it won't hurt the Raiders if they take a chance on Scott.
Prediction: Las Vegas Raiders (Round 5, 141st overall)
