Dan Campbell Explains Why Lions Had No QBs at Minicamp

The Detroit Lions enter the 2021 season with a new man under center. That's none other than Jared Goff, who was traded from the Los Angeles Rams this past offseason. Even with a new quarterback taking over the offense, Lions head coach Dan Campbell is taking it slow with the transition.
Campbell, another new face in Detroit, recently explained why the Lions didn't invite a single quarterback to the team's first minicamp this offseason.
Campbell explaining why no QBs are on their rookie camp roster: We didn't feel like we would do traditional practices, so why waste a spot on a QB that we knew wasn't going to be here?

It should be noted, Campbell is already making a name for himself when it comes to giving the media some interesting quotes to think and write about. For example, here's one quote about Penei Sewell that will make you want to run through a wall. And, another from his introductory press conference that could be described as deranged.
Clearly, Campbell has a unique way of explaining his expertise on the game of football. This latest quote is no exception. Campbell "didn't think" the Lions would have traditional practices is minicamp and thought "why bother" inviting quarterbacks because of this.
He also went on to explain that several coaches including Mark Brunell, Antwaan Randle El and Tanner Engstrand have been playing QB in practice.
It'll be a fun year for Detroit with all of these interesting takes from Campbell. As it stands, FanDuel Sportsbook gives the Lions +350 odds to finish with the worst regular season record, according to the latest NFL odds.
