Dalvin Cook Reveals Exciting Number Change

The NFL introduced a new rule ahead of the 2021 season that allowed players to change to choose from a larger variety of jersey numbers. Although some players already swapped digits last season, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook was not one of them.

Cooked toyed with the idea during the last offseason, but opted to stick with No. 33. That won't be the case for the 2022 NFL season as the 26-year-old RB revealed at a press conference Tuesday that he'll be wearing No. 4 going forward.

Cook isn't a stranger to sporting the No. 4. It was his jersey number when he played college football for the Florida State Seminoles. He was going to make the switch last season, but the cost of buying the remaining No. 33 jerseys was too much for him.

Considering how Cook racked up 5,399 total yards from scrimmage and 48 touchdowns in three seasons at FSU, Vikings fans wouldn't complain if his "new" number gave him an on-field boost.

It isn't as if he "needs" a boost, though. Since the 2019 season, Cook ranks second among RBs when it comes to carries (811), rushing yards (3,851) and touchdowns (35). If wearing his old college jersey number can take his game to another level, the league will need to be on guard.

Cook must be at his best if the Vikings want to create separation from the middle of the pack and challenge for a championship in 2022. FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl Odds show Minnesota at +3500.
