Dak Prescott Injury Update Clouds Week 8 Fantasy Outlook

The situation surrounding quarterback Dak Prescott's health for Week 8 has suddenly become very murky. The Dallas Cowboys' leader is set to be a game-time decision on Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings as he continues to deal with a strained calf injury.

Prescott will go through his normal warmup and that will be the true test on whether or not he will be able to suit up. This development clouds Prescott's Week 8 fantasy value and puts managers rostering him in a tricky spot.

Dak Prescott Fantasy Outlook

Prescott practiced in a limited fashion this past week and it is clear that the Cowboys will be cautious regarding his status. That gives fantasy managers a tough decision to make. The best option for managers rostering Dak is to add Cooper Rush to the bench.

Rush would be leading a Cowboys offense that ranks No. 1 in the NFL averaging 460.8 yards and 34.2 points per game. The talent he has around him, such as running back Ezekiel Elliott and CeeDee Lamb, would give him a chance to finish as a high-end QB2 in his first NFL start. Hopefully it doesn't come to that, though.

The Cowboys' hot start to the season has been in large part due to the play of Prescott. The sixth-year pro leads the NFL with a 73.1% completion percentage and is averaging a reliable 302.2 passing yards per game. Overall, he ranks as the QB12 in fantasy scoring and is a must-start player when healthy.
