Bill Belichick strikes again. After months of coverage painting Jarrett Stidham as the heir apparent to Tom Brady, the New England Patriots have signed Cam Newton. This move has already drastically shaken up NFL futures odds.
But one of the most notable shifts happened in the odds to win the Comeback Player of the Year award, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Newton (+340) now trails only Ben Roethlisberger (+260), and he's ahead of former Patriot Rob Gronkowski (+420), and perennial contender for this award, J.J. Watt (+700).
Interestingly, though, Newton (+3200) actually has significantly better odds to win the NFL MVP than Roethlisberger (+4400). The key for both Roethlisberger and Newton will, of course, be to stay healthy, as the two signal-callers both missed 14 games last season.
But if both can remain on the field this year, this race will certainly be one to watch.
