The Colts have now made a pair of moves to adjust their running back depth heading into Week 10.
Indianapolis announced it has released veteran RB Phillip Lindsay on Thursday. He'll be replaced by a fellow running back, as Jake Funk is signing to the team's practice squad.
The Colts' injury troubles at running back cleared the way for Lindsay to be promoted from the practice squad three times this season. His most notable outing was in Week 5, when he turned 11 rushes into 40 yards and caught three passes for 14 yards. He also played in Week 6 and 9, but recorded just 14 yards from scrimmage combined in those two games.
Funk, meanwhile, has spent the last 1.5 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams after being a seventh-round pick by the team in 2021. He was merely a reserve piece during their Super Bowl run, registering just two carries in 10 games. This year, he's made five appearances, but almost played exclusively on special teams.
Indy's RB depth will be something to watch as Jonathan Taylor looks to return from his nagging ankle injury and Deon Jackson nurses a knee ailment heading into Week 10.
