After trading away Nyheim Hines and with Jonathan Taylor banged up, the Indianapolis Colts suddenly find themselves in need of running back depth.

The team addressed that issue by bringing back a familiar face, signing veteran RB Jordan Wilkins to the practice squad on Wednesday.

Indianapolis Colts News

Wilkins, 28, returns to the Colts after a brief stint with the Tennessee Titans. He played one game for them last year before being waived during training camp in August.

Indianapolis is bringing Wilkins back for a second stint after releasing him during the 2021 season. Wilkins was originally drafted by the Colts and debuted with them in 2018, primarily serving as a backup to Marlon Mack and then Taylor before being waived in 2021.

While he hasn't played in a game since January, Wilkins has solid experience under his belt. He's appeared in 50 games throughout his NFL career, compiling 1,184 total yards and 4 touchdowns while averaging 4.9 yards per carry.

Wilkins will try to reclaim some of that playing time on his old team. Meanwhile, the Colts head into Week 9 as 5.5-point road underdogs against the New England Patriots on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
