While Kansas City Chiefs' running back Clyde Edwards Helaire is expected to play on Sunday night, it may come down to how he feels before kickoff. He has been dealing with the flu for the past week and has not practiced with the team since Wednesday,
This definitely complicates Edwards-Helaire's fantasy football outlook heading into Week 13. The best option right now is to have backup players available in case he doesn't play. If he is able to suit up, it is possible he even plays a limited role or splits work with backup Le'Veon Bell.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire Fantasy Outlook
Edwards-Helaire has had an up-and-down season from a fantasy football perspective. For example, he had 69 yards rushing and scored 2 touchdowns in Week 11, but posted just 37 yards on 11 carries in Week 12. He hasn't seen more than 14 carries since Week 6 as the Chiefs continue to use a pass-heavy game plan.
The former LSU Tiger does draw a great matchup in Week 13 as he faces a Denver Broncos' defense that is giving up 131.3 rushing yards per game this season (No. 27 in the NFL). They have also allowed 9 rushing touchdowns (T-No. 20 in the NFL) and were gashed for 229 rushing yards by the New Orleans Saints just last week.
This is a situation worth monitoring all the way up until kickoff on Sunday night. For now, Edwards-Helaire checks in as the No. 24 running back in our Week 13 fantasy football rankings. He has fringe RB2 value this week, but doesn't provide much upside given his health at the moment.
