Fresh off its second College Football Playoff National Championship win over Alabama in the last three seasons, the Clemson Tigers have opened with the highest win total for the 2019 NCAAF regular season in the country, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Sitting just 0.5 projected wins ahead of the Alabama Crimson Tide (11 wins) and Georgia Bulldogs (11) at 11.5 wins, Clemson is already riding some serious confidence from oddsmakers heading into the upcoming season.

The Tigers set a school record with 15 total wins in last season's title run, and Clemson has posted a perfect 12-win regular season in two of the last four years (2018, 2015). However, the odds on either side of that 11.5-win projection are far from balanced, sitting +130 on the over and -156 on the under.

Despite losing a number of key defensive playmakers to the 2019 NFL Draft, Clemson returns star sophomore quarterback Trevor Lawrence to lead this year's offense. Lawrence is also currently tied with Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa for the best odds to win next season's Heisman trophy.

As for other perennial contenders, the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oklahoma Sooners both have 10.5-win projected totals, which is a total both teams surpassed last regular season with 11 wins. Ohio State and Oklahoma are followed by the Michigan Wolverines and Texas Longhorns, who are both tied at 9.5 projected wins.

There's a significant chance we see Alabama and Clemson cross paths once again in the 2020 College Football Playoff, but each team could run into an unexpected speed bump along the way.
