Carolina Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey is once again nursing an injury, this time a quad issue, that has put his availability for Week 4 in jeopardy. McCaffrey was absent from practice on Wednesday and Thursday, indicating this problem is more significant than the other ailments he's already dealt with this season.
However, McCaffrey's status for Week 4 took a major turn on Friday.
CMC was officially present for Friday's practice, which is a big step in the right direction. He was even spotted running around and getting in some work on the side.
The fact McCaffrey returned to practice is a good sign for his availability this week against the Arizona Cardinals. He'll still need to make it through workouts and the weekend without any setbacks, but this development should put him on track to suit up on Sunday.
The stud RB has been the lone bright spot on a struggling Panthers offense to start the 2022 campaign. He's rushed for 243 yards and a touchdown while adding another 57 receiving yards on 10 receptions over the first three games.
Carolina will certainly need McCaffrey at his best in order to fend off a talented Cardinals offense. NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook peg the Panthers as slim 1.5-point favorites ahead of their clash on Sunday.
