Chiefs Get Massive News on Orlando Brown Contract Situation

The Kansas City Chiefs faced a stressful situation when three-time Pro Bowl left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. opted to skip the first week of training camp amidst his current contract dispute. Kansas City could not afford to miss the heart and soul of their offensive line, an elite talent who played 100% of the offensive snaps and received a stellar 75.4 rating from PFF in his first year with the team.
While the two sides failed to reach a long-term agreement this offseason, the news took a massive turn of good fortune for Kansas City on Monday.

Reports indicate Brown will officially report to Chiefs' training camp and the fourth-year pro will play under the franchise tag in 2022.
Chiefs News
There's no overstating the importance of Brown amongst Kansas City's offensive line. He's a three-time Pro Bowler and has played 100% of the offensive snaps for the past three years. Two of those came with his previous team, the Baltimore Ravens, but he's a force to be reckoned with.
Kansas City's offensive line came together as one of the best units in football in 2021. The team allowed the third-fewest sacks (28) in all of football, en route to an offense that ranked fourth in points scored.
Protecting superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is of the utmost importance, especially after losing a weapon like Tyreek Hill in the offseason.
Kansas City is still looking to lock-up Brown for a long-term deal, although that will have to wait until the end of the season. That makes this news a little bittersweet, as it does make it seem increasingly likely that Brown will be playing somewhere else for the 2023-24 season.
