The Washington Commanders learned their full 2022 NFL schedule on Thursday night, including when new quarterback Carson Wentz will visit the Philadelphia Eagles. The 29-year-old veteran has yet to play his former team since he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts last year, making it a must-see affair.

Wentz and the Commanders will visit Philadelphia in Week 10 for a Monday Night Football tilt. When asked about his upcoming return to Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday night, Wentz downplayed the situation, saying that "it's going to be just another ballgame."

Commanders vs Eagles Week 10

Wentz acknowledged that his return to Philadelphia is a "big game" and that the "fans will eat that one up." Even though more eyes than usually will likely be on the Week 10 matchup, the veteran signal-caller won't let it distract him.

"I’m excited for it, but at the same time, I’m trying not to get too excited for that one, because, again, it’s just football. Can’t press. Can’t do too much."

Even if he isn't outright admitting it, you have to assume that Wentz is dying at the thought of sticking it to his former team — in Philly, nonetheless. In order to do that, though, he must play much better than he did with the Colts in 2021.

Wentz just couldn't be the consistent gunslinger that Indianapolis needed last year, proven by his career-worst 209.6 passing yards per game. Joining the Commanders in a division that he's more than familiar with gives him an opportunity for a fresh start.

Fortunately, Wentz has played solid at Lincoln Financial Field, where he has a 22-11-1 record and averages 252.0 passing yards, 1.7 touchdowns and 0.6 interceptions per game. It'll be interesting to see if he can maintain that success as a visitor.

Aside from Wentz's return storyline, this week 10 matchup will also play a role in the NFC East title race. FanDuel Sportsbook is giving the Eagles the second-best odds (+240) to win the division, while the Commanders sit third at +450.
