The St. Louis Cardinals' 2021 MLB season came to an end when they were eliminated in the Wild Card round by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fast forward to Thursday and the Cardinals fired then-manager Mike Shildt due to "philosophical differences."

Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak has since revealed the timeline when it comes to hiring the next manager.

St. Louis Cardinals Manager Rumors

Mozeliak told reporters that he didn't want to waste time finding the next Cardinals manager, adding that he doesn't want to be in "mid-November" without the position being filled.

The Cardinals continue to improve with each passing season, finishing with at least 90 wins in both of the last full-length campaigns. They also have a mixture of veterans and promising young talent, so the ideal candidate would be someone who could get the most out of both groups.

The Cardinals are expected to look into both internal and external candidates when it comes to filling the position. St Louis first base coach Stubby Clapp and bench coach Oliver Marmol are both up for consideration, however, the Cardinals may want to see who's available once the current postseason concludes.

Either way, the future looks bright for the Cardinals. All that's left to do is find a manager who's philosophical views mesh with those of Mozeliak.
