The Cleveland Browns are still adjusting to the fact that they will be without quarterback Deshaun Watson for the first 11 weeks of the regular season. Jacoby Brissett is the clear-cut starting QB and Kevin Stefanski said the veteran will lead the offense early in the team's preseason finale on Saturday.
Cleveland Browns Preseason
Stefanski did not provide any insight on how long Brissett and the rest of the starters will play. It could be a few series, an entire quarter or an entire half at this point. Keep in mind this is a change of pace for the Browns considering Brissett has yet to take a single snap across two preseason contests.
Brissett was signed to a one-year deal worth $4.65 million this offseason and will now get a chance to prove he has what it takes to guide Cleveland to a playoff berth. The 29-year-old owns a record of 14-23 across 37 career starts and has thrown 36 touchdowns compared to 17 interceptions.
Joshua Dobbs will be the next line to receive snaps after Brissett exits the game. His ability to keep plays alive with his legs was on full display against the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend. He finished 14-of-20 for 141 yards, while Josh Rosen completed just seven of his 20 pass attempts for 88 yards.
This will be the first time Browns fans get to see Brissett in game action. FanDuel Sportsbook lists the Cleveland as a 5.5-point home favorite against the Chicago Bears with odds set at -230 on the moneyline. The game is set for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff and will be broadcasted on local television.
