The Cleveland Browns are bringing a familiar face back to their practice squad. Cornerback Thomas Graham Jr. is set to re-join with the team after being waived from the active roster a few days ago. The former 2021 sixth-round pick by the Chicago Bears will continue taking on an important depth role.
Cleveland Browns News
Graham was originally signed off the Bears' practice squad and onto the Browns' active roster on September 13. He has appeared on the special teams unit in all four of Cleveland's game since then. The 23-year-old was cut to make room for veteran Greedy Williams, who is set to return from injury.
As a rookie, Graham played in four games (one start) at CB for Chicago and finished the 2021 season with 13 tackles (1.0 for loss) to go along with 4 pass breakups. He allowed 6 of the 12 passes thrown his way to be completed for 67 yards and 1 touchdown. A potential to grow was obviously shown.
Bears fans were surprised when Graham was left off the roster at the 53-man deadline. After all, he had been taking first-team reps in the spring. A hamstring injury limited his workload all summer, though, and left him without enough time to learn new head coach Matt Eberflus' base 4-3 defense.
Graham could find himself as a frequent game day elevation moving forward given the value he brings as a speedy special-teamer. Whether he takes a single snap on defense is yet to be seen. The Browns have odds set at +6000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
