After their latest loss, the Cleveland Browns shook up their defense by acquiring linebacker Deion Jones from the Atlanta Falcons. While Browns fans are excited to see Jones on the field, they're wondering when that'll be since he's spent the first five weeks of the season recovering from offseason shoulder surgery.

The good news is that, barring any setbacks, Jones will make his Browns debut against the New England Patriots this Sunday. The organization announced on Wednesday the 27-year-old has been designated to return from injury.

Deion Jones Injury Update

Jones' upcoming debut should give the Browns some help that they desperately need. Despite noteworthy names like Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney already in the fold up front, Cleveland has surrendered 25.0 points (T-No. 23) and 138.2 rushing yards (No. 28) per game.

When healthy, Jones is an extremely dependable defender. The former LSU Tiger recorded 652 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 44 broken-up passes and 11 interceptions in 85 career games with the Falcons. His efforts earned him a Pro Bowl appearance, along with a third-place finish in the 2016 Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.

It'll be interesting to see Jones' usage in his Cleveland debut. Missing the preseason and the first five weeks of the regular season isn't insignificant. It might take him a few outings to get back into game shape, but the Browns' future hinges on his ability to step up as soon as possible.

Nevertheless, a battle with the Patriots should offer the Browns' defenders plenty of opportunities for success. New England has tallied the fourth-most turnovers while also averaging the eighth-fewest points on the road (16.0) this season.

Patriots vs Browns Odds

It's looking like there's a good chance that Jones will get to do some celebrating in his 2022 debut. FanDuel Sportsbook currently lists the Browns as 3-point home favorites over the Patriots in a game where the projected total is set at 42.5 points.
