The New York Yankees are coming off yet another disappointing campaign that fell short of the World Series for the 13th straight year. With the same frustrating result happening year after year, Yankees fans have been calling for the jobs of both GM Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone for some time now.

While there had been initial reports about Cashman's status within the organization, he addressed it directly on Friday. Cashman, who is usually very tight-lipped, claimed owner Hal Steinbrenner "wants me back" and that he'd "like to stay."

Based on that, it sounds like both Cashman and Boone will be back next season. Steinbrenner has already thrown his support behind Boone for another year and is continuing to let Cashman operate as GM even though his contract expired on Oct. 31, suggesting a new contract is forthcoming.

Whether Cashman comes back or is replaced by someone else, Steinbrenner better figure it out soon because this is one of the most pivotal offseasons in recent memory for New York, especially with likely AL MVP Aaron Judge reaching free agency.
