Josh Allen has transformed from a very rocky rookie year in 2018, to a legitimate MVP-caliber player in just his third season. As he and the Buffalo Bills prepare for the AFC Championship Game and the right to play in the Super Bowl, it's important to marvel at just how far Allen has come in three seasons.
While you obviously have to give credit to Allen himself, along with the coaching staff, a football team's success hinges on more than just quarterback play, and when you take a look at the roster that surrounded Allen, compared to the one he's playing with know, the differences are astonishing.
With the exception of Logan Thomas, who experienced a breakout year with the Washington Football Team in 2020, every player on the list is essentially irrelevant today. Either out of the league or putting up numbers that barely make a footnote, Allen's supporting cast during his rookie year could help explain why he seemed like such a disappointment early on.
So while the Bills should definitely be applauded for the development of their now star quarterback, they should also be given credit for building an impressive and legitimate supporting cast around him, one that looks like it will be able to keep in place for a while.
