Buffalo Bills starting quarterback Josh Allen in in the midst of the best season of his young career. He has led the Bills to a 7-2 record, and they sit atop the AFC East standings. No one is enjoying watching Allen play than Bills' fans themselves and they showed their appreciation this weekend.
Allen showed up and played on Sunday after his grandmother, Patricia, passed away the day before at the age of 80. The fans learned of this and decided they wanted to stand by their quarterback and create a huge donation chain in her honor.
Fans all over the country started donating in $17 increments (Josh Allen's number) to Buffalo's Oishei Children's Hospital, an organization in which Allen spends a lot of his time and efforts helping out. The donations continue to roll in and the total number was said to be at $24,000 and growing as of Monday morning.
This is a perfect example of how football fans truly embrace their players and see the players embrace them back. The fans' love for Allen has seemed to grow deeper and deeper every year.
A team spokesman said that Allen is aware of the donations and is appreciative of the support being shown for him and his family. Once again, Bills Mafia continues to showcase why they are known as one of the best fanbases in the NFL.
