The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off of their first Super Bowl appearance this century and expectations are going to be high in 2022. Addressing their mediocre offensive line is a must and fans will be glad to hear Cincinnati has been labeled the perfect fit for free agent guard Alex Cappa.
Bengals Free Agent Targets 2022
Cappa has spent each of his first four NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and played in every single game since the start of 2020. He gave up just five sacks and drew one penalty in over 1,200 snaps played this past season and would be an instant upgrade for the Bengals' weak O-line.
Of course, Cincinnati came up just short in the big game thanks to the fact that quarterback Joe Burrow was sacked a whopping seven times. Overall, Burrow was sacked the most out of any QB during the regular season (51) and was also taken to the ground 19 times across four playoff games.
It wouldn't be shocking to see the Bengals go all-out and sign multiple free agent linemen in a total reset up front. They are projected to have over $48 million in available cap space and can outbid a lot of other NFL teams. Simply put, bringing in Cappa would give the team some much needed flexibility.
The Bengals will look to repeat as AFC North champions in 2022, but need to polish off the roster a bit before Week 1 rolls around. For now, Cincinnati has the eighth-best odds to win Super Bowl 57 at +2000, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
