The Chicago Bears were dealt a big loss right off the bat in Week 3 as running back David Montgomery exited in the first quarter with an injury. Montgomery was clearly in a ton of pain, and he was quickly ruled out with a right knee and ankle issue, immediately raising concerns.
The postgame update on Motgomery provided some much-needed good news, though.
Head coach Matt Eberflus said Montgomery will emerge from this as just "day to day" heading into Week 4. Eberflus said the stud RB is doing "good", though he has a "couple things going on."
All in all, this is among the best-case results after Montgomery's injury scare. This situation could've had a much scarier outcome, assuming the veteran comes away from this with just a minor issue.
Khalil Herbert's performance against the Lions could make Chicago more comfortable with sitting Montgomery next Sunday if he's not 100%. Herbert went off in a featured role against the Texans, turning 20 carries into 157 yards and 2 touchdowns.
