Bears Bolster QB Depth Behind Justin Fields With Latest Signing

The Chicago Bears have been very busy this past week as they look to fill out their roster for the 2023 season. One area the team could use some help at was backup quarterback, with only Trevor Siemian and Tim Boyle behind Justin Fields when the week started.
Well, Chicago has now bolstered that group with its latest addition.
Two-year deal worth up to $5M, including a $1M signing bonus for Walker.

PJ Walker Bears
The Bears agreed to a deal with P.J. Walker on Wednesday night. The contract is for two years and worth up to $5 million, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic.
Walker brings solid starting experience to Chicago's QB room. The former XFL standout heard his number called for seven starts over three seasons with his previous team, the Carolina Panthers. He recorded 1,056 passing yards, 4 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in those games while going 4-3 overall.
The 28-year-old can also pick up first downs with his legs, which perfectly suits the Bears' system after Fields punished opponents on the ground in 2022.
Chicago has a legit backup competition brewing with Walker's arrival. Considering the team sought the veteran out despite having two other options behind Fields, Walker could be seen as the new favorite to earn QB2 duties next season.
