Allen Lazard and Jake Kumerow Fantasy Outlook Improves With Davante Adams Week 7 Injury Update
Missing Davante Adams is nothing new for the Green Bay Packers, as their No. 1 WR has been sidelined for two games now thanks to his toe injury. But Week 7 brings them some new challenges, with No. 2 and No. 3 WRs Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison also at risk of missing Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders after missing Wednesday's practice.
If all three sit, Jake Kumerow and Allan Lazard would be thrust into huge roles, making them both intriguing fantasy options for the week.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison Injury Update
Adams' role had really exploded before he got hurt in Week 4, racking up 15 targets while making it through only 70 percent of the Packers' offensive snaps in that game.
Since then, the Packers have spread the ball around pretty heavily. Allison and Valdes-Scantling are second and fourth on the team in targets in the last two games, with their combined 19 accounting for 27.5 percent of the team's total.
Lazard and Kumerow have each seen five targets in the last two weeks, and the passing volume could get a lot more concentrated with two fewer healthy options available for Aaron Rodgers.
Week 7 also brings a great matchup for whoever does start, as the Raiders rank just 26th in Football Outsiders' pass defense DVOA rankings, giving up the eighth-most fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts.
MVS and Allison do both still have a chance of playing though, and we'll have a better idea of their status after Thursday and Friday's injury reports. Assuming they are both active, Valdes-Scantling sits 30th and Allison is 33rd among WRs in our Week 7 PPR fantasy football rankings. If they both sit, Kumerow and Lazard will both come into consideration as FLEX plays for the week.
Although, if the Packers' receiving corps can't get healthy fast, and the next-man-up approach doesn't work out, Green Bay might have to look elsewhere for help through the air.
