The Alabama Crimson Tide have been the gold standard of college football over the past decade, and no matter how much turnover their program seems to have, they've still never missed a College Football Playoff appearance since the postseason format's 2014-15 season debut.

The Crimson Tide currently boast -235 odds to make the 2020 CFP this season, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. While these are still the second-best odds in the nation, Alabama's shot at making the 2020 CFP makes the Tide seem like a staggering underdog when compared to that of its budding CFP rival, the Clemson Tigers (-750).

The Tide will likely feature one of the top offenses in the country, led by Heisman hopeful QB Tua Tagovailoa and electric wideout Jerry Jeudy. Alabama should also feature another one of the nation's top defenses, returning seven starters from last year's squad.

However, despite Bama's wealth of returning talent, the Tigers' odds absolutely dwarf the Tide's by comparison, as the defending national champions have -750 odds to return to the CFP.

Alabama lost a league-high 10 players to the 2019 NFL Draft this past spring, including 2018 All-American defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and running back Josh Jacobs, but the program should still be in excellent shape to make its sixth straight CFP appearance.

These odds will likely change by the week during the college football season, and Alabama could gain some ground if Clemson comes out of the gates any slower than expected. But for now, it seems we have a pretty solid chance to see both Bama and Clemson return to the CFP come December.
