Adam Schefter Provides Scary Update on Dak Prescott Injury Recovery

The big story of the offseason for the Dallas Cowboys has been Dak Prescott's recovery from the season-ending ankle injury he suffered in 2020.
The Cowboys have kept pretty quiet about his status, not revealing more than they have to. That's not concerning on its own, as NFL teams often play their cards close to their chest, but the latest comments from NFL inside Adam Schefter raises some serious red flags.

Now keep in mind that this isn't a usual Schefter report in which he's relaying inside information from his sources. This is just his opinion on the situation.
But there are few people more dialed in to the day-to-day of NFL injuries than Schefter, so this is a pretty heavily educated opinion.
Prescott himself has said that he expects to be ready for Week 1, but if he's not playing at 100% then there will be some concerns surrounding him all season.
The Cowboys' total lack of QB depth puts them in a tricky spot as a team. They can't afford to start Garrett Gilbert or Ben DiNucci, but it's also risky to rush Prescott back into action before he's ready. This is going to be a situation to monitor very closely through the remainder of the preseason.
Despite these concerns, FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds have the Cowboys as +130 favorites to win the NFC East in 2021.
